What challenges will your children face in life and how can you prepare them to be successful? Within the walls of Sprayberry Academy, a dedicated group of teachers and co-teachers have a great passion for educating young children and a sense of responsibility to give each child the tools to help them live up to their fullest potential.

The professionals at Sprayberry Academy can help you make the right choice for your child. Sprayberry Academy is the first and foremost educational facility to start your child’s fantastic journey into the future. Through studies over the years, some have concluded that the ability of a child’s brain to absorb a maximum amount of information in the shortest amount of time occurs in the first five years of his or her life. Knowing this makes it a priority to provide the finest learning environment available. Your child deserves to be in a premier place and Sprayberry Academy is the one. Their goal is to make certain your child receives the opportunity to attain a well-rounded educational base. This is the reason Co-Directors Ashleigh Bailey and Melissa Mastley, Assistant Director Amber Bailey, and the teachers are so completely dedicated to making sure the educational quality of Sprayberry Academy goes beyond all expectations.

"Our teachers use the Creative Curriculum format in their classrooms. Not only does this method assist in your child’s educational development, but it also inspires creativity and demonstrates that learning can be fun. Language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, and all other subjects are presented in a way that makes learning easy and fun," states director, Ashleigh Bailey. Creative Curriculum emphasizes teaching designed to accommodate each child’s individual learning style. This teaching technique addresses each child’s strengths and weaknesses in all areas of early childhood education.

Every classroom at Sprayberry Academy has a lead teacher who is certified in early childhood education and a co-teacher who is trained to support the education of the pre-kindergarten child. Both lead and assistant teachers are required to attend state approved classes to enhance their teaching techniques and share their knowledge. Sprayberry Academy is fortunate to have a wealth of experience, knowledge, and diversity to share among themselves and with the children. The lesson plans for each class are developed to accommodate the needs of every child. They follow set guidelines established by the state and must be approved by Sprayberry Academy’s administration. This ensures that each area of instruction receives the state mandated time. Lesson plans are modified as the children progress and changes are slowly incorporated to more closely resemble the structured setting of the kindergarten class they will attend the following year.

Sprayberry Academy not only focuses on the development of your child’s mind, but also on their physical and emotional growth. They strive to assist your child in building a strong foundation upon which the rest of their lives can be supported.

Children spend one hour daily (weather permitting) outside. Activities are planned to target specific needs. As each child is evaluated, lesson plans are developed to improve his or her skills whether social, emotional, or physical. When the children are outside they have access to classroom materials. This provides an extension of the classroom learning environment.

At Sprayberry Academy, your child also learns life skills, a sense of responsibility, and independence, all of which increase their self-esteem. "Snacks and lunch are times when the children participate in family-style dining by serving themselves food from small bowls and passing the bowls to their classmates. The milk and juice are also served in this manner using a small pitcher for easier handling," according to assistant director, Amber Bailey.

Hygiene is another priority at Sprayberry Academy and children are asked to wash their hands frequently. After finishing lunch and cleaning up their space, children are sent to wash their hands and faces before eating, after eating, after sneezing, blowing their nose, coughing, going to the restroom, and any other time that is necessary. A numbered sheet and mat is given to each child for his or her exclusive use. These are washed and sanitized weekly or more if needed. The classrooms are cleaned and toys are sanitized daily.

By logging onto the Watch Me Grow Website, parents can instantly view their child’s classroom activities from arrival to departure. This high-quality video may be seen live or can be backed up to the day’s activities to watch when time permits. This feature also allows out-of-state family members and friends to view your child since they cannot always be with them.

"Being able to inform parents of the resources and services available to them through the Cobb County School System is something in which Sprayberry Academy takes pride. By working with the system, any needs a child may have can be addressed before they enter kindergarten, and all paperwork can be processed so your child doesn’t have to wait months to receive service," according to co-director Melissa Mastley. "We are also proud to be ‘Partners in Education’ with several neighborhood elementary schools."

Remaining open for childcare on teacher workdays and all other school closings is a benefit designed to relieve the stress for parents who have nowhere for their child to safely stay. In addition, Sprayberry Academy offers both before care, including breakfast, and after care, including snacks. Morning transportation to Addison Elementary and afternoon transportation from Addison, Keheley, Rocky Mt, and Murdock schools are also provided by Sprayberry Academy. To better serve your child care needs, Sprayberry Academy is open from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and offers daily and weekly aftercare for pre-k through fifth grade students. Their philosophy involves caring for your child beyond "simply daycare." Homework help is available along with planned activities, outside time, and a wonderful sense of belonging.

Summer can cause some parents a little anxiety over where their child will spend it. Sprayberry Academy can end that apprehension by confidently informing parents that there is positively no better place for their child to be than "Camp Extravaganza" located on the Sprayberry Academy campus. Fun is what every child wants, but learning experiences are what they need, so every activity or experience for each child incorporates education. The children are divided into two age-appropriate groups to enhance their learning opportunities. The junior campers are those who have completed pre-k through first grade and senior campers are those who have completed second grade through sixth grade. Camp Extravaganza encourages students to explore new, exciting, and stimulating activities in a carefully supervised environment. This vigilant supervision extends off campus and the children attend age-appropriate field trips. Sprayberry Academy’s Camp Extravaganza is the best place for your children to spend their summer days.
